Gainesville, Florida – The 34th annual Charity Masquerade Ball was a night of elegance and generosity, held at the Reitz Union Grand Ballroom on April 15th, 2023. Supported by The Collier Companies as a gold sponsor, the event raised over $150,000 for Stop Children’s Cancer, an organization dedicated to finding cures for childhood cancers.

Guests arrived at the black-tie affair in shimmering masks that added to the evening’s allure. With live entertainment, a silent and live auction, a car giveaway, dinner, drinks, and dancing, the event was a true celebration of life.

Stop Children’s Cancer’s mission began in 1981, inspired by a child diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia who dreamed of finding cures for childhood cancers. Despite losing the battle to cancer, the child’s family and supporters continued the mission to Stop Children’s Cancer, raising over $10 million to fund clinical trials, research scholars, and equipment for the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine.

“We are proud to support Stop Children’s Cancer in their mission to prevent, control, and cure childhood cancers,” said Sharifa Lawson, Director of Marketing at The Collier Companies. “As a company committed to creating communities where people can live, work, and play, we recognize the importance of backing a meaningful initiative and supporting organizations that make a positive impact.”

The success of the Masquerade Ball was a testament to the generosity of the community and the dedication of local organizations that help advance this noble endeavor. The Collier Companies’ significant contribution as a gold sponsor will continue to boost funding for much-needed clinical trials, basic research, and research equipment for the UF Department of Pediatrics. As a result, the increasing number of research clinical trials will provide hope for countless children and their families worldwide.
