On February 1-3, The Collier Companies had its annual Conference of Champions at the University Air Center in Gainesville, Florida. The keynote speakers conveyed ideas about leadership, service, and current news in the multifamily housing industry over the three days. This annual leadership conference brings together the Community Managers, Service Managers, and key regional team members of TCC, to acknowledge the accomplishments they made in the past year, and motivate them for the upcoming year.
This year, the conference was about taking flight and soaring above expectations. Mark Cukro, former Director of Service Team Development for Colonial Properties Trust, Inc., was the keynote speaker opening day. Cukro spoke about how important service is in the multifamily housing industry. He challenged all in attendance to change the way they interact with their customers. When interacting with customers, Cukro reminded the managers that they are the company on-site, and it is important to make the customer feel important. The keynote speaker the second day of the Conference of Champions was Jones Loflin, author and leadership trainer. His seminar, “Earning Top Gun Status as a Leader”, was all about teaching our leaders to prioritize and organize their daily tasks to get the most done effectively and efficiently. He stressed the importance of recognizing which types of overload our managers experience and preventing them from becoming overwhelming. Both speakers used a combination of hands-on and group activities to help explain why The Collier Companies’ success is a team effort. Founder and Chairman Nathan S. Collier ended the second day of the conference with a motivational seminar about how The Collier Companies began and where he sees it going.
The third day of the conference was about where The Collier Companies is now and where it is going as a company. The conference adjourned after team member training for fall 2017’s apartment turn. The Collier Companies’ six regional community managers led this training.
The Conference of Champions is not only a motivational conference, but is also an acknowledgement of the accomplishments of TCC’s team members over the past year. Every day, time was set aside for awards to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of outstanding leaders in the company. The Collier Companies thanks its wonderful sponsors and team members for another successful year.
