Impact and Philanthropy

At The Collier Companies, giving back isn't a program — it's a principle.

Our Commitment

Impact with Intention

Nathan S. Collier built The Collier Companies with the belief that lasting success creates opportunities to make a meaningful and enduring impact.

That belief guides a focused approach to philanthropy. We invest selectively in initiatives aligned with our values and positioned to advance public accountability, expand educational opportunities, recognize excellence, protect natural spaces, and improve lives.

From investigative journalism and real estate education to environmental stewardship and carefully chosen partnerships, our giving is purposeful, values-driven, and designed for long-term impact.

For us, impact is not measured only by what we give. It is measured by what our giving makes possible.

Government Accountability

The Collier Prize for State Government Accountability

Administered by the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications, the Collier Prize for State Government Accountability is a $25,000 annual award honoring exceptional investigative and political reporting focused on state government.

The prize was created to encourage journalism that strengthens transparency, exposes abuses of power, and serves the public interest. By recognizing work that holds government accountable, the Collier Prize reflects a core belief that strong communities depend on informed citizens and a vigilant free press.

It is one of the largest journalism awards in the nation and the largest dedicated specifically to state government accountability.

Ethics in Journalism

The Peter F. Collier Awards

Founded by Nathan S. Collier in 2024, the Peter F. Collier Award for Ethics in Journalism is granted annually and recognizes student and professional journalists at the local and national/international levels whose work reflects the highest ethical standards, even in the face of pressure, risk, or incentives to compromise.

Administered by the Ethics and Journalism Initiative at NYU's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, the award celebrates journalism that demonstrates integrity, courage, transparency, and accountability in service of the public interest.

By honoring journalists who choose principle over convenience, the Peter F. Collier Award reinforces the essential role of ethics in a free and responsible press.
